The bread of Communion and the cup of Communion each stand for a basic and unique theme.

These two basic themes harmonize with each other to give the believer in Christ the full counsel of Scripture for his faith and practice. These two messages apply to every second of every minute of the believer’s life. These two themes summarize the prophets and law of the Old Testament; and every promise and doctrine in the New Testament. The theme underlying the body of Christ and the theme underlying the blood of Christ are the very heart and soul of the Bible itself.
